doc4Mercy Foundation Receives Grants from Variety– the Children’s Charity to Enhance Care and Services to Children

DES MOINES, Iowa – Variety- the Children’s Charity has awarded Mercy Foundation a $250,000 grant to benefit Mercy Children’s Hospital & Clinics and a $18,766 grant to benefit House of Mercy.

The Variety grants will be used to fund three MRI “Goggles” that will allow children to watch a movie during their scan with the goal of keeping them calm, reducing their need for sedation; Neonatal Intensive Care Unit family waiting room and MRI pediatric preparation room remodel projects; and a much needed replacement walk-in cooler for House of Mercy’s kitchen.

“We are extremely pleased to have received this grant support from Variety- the Children’s Charity,” said Shannon Cofield, president of Mercy Foundation. “With these funds we are able to purchase innovative equipment and complete remodel projects designed to enhance the health care experience and healing environment for children and their families during their time at Mercy.”
