In March, Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines and Mercy Foundation were pleased to support the Variety Telethon with a check for $45,927 to further Variety’s mission of helping children in need reach their highest potential.
For 40 years, Mercy and Variety have been devoted partners in improving quality of life for Iowa’s children.
Mercy and Variety –the Children’s Charity have a special partnership thanks to a shared mission to care for and improve the lives of children in need in Iowa. As one of Mercy Foundation’s highest long-time cumulative grantors, Variety has awarded over $9.3 million in funding to Mercy pediatric services over the past 40 years. Nearly every component of Mercy Children’s Hospitals and Clinics (MCHC), has benefited from Variety’s funding.
Variety is dedicated to improving the lives of underprivileged, at-risk and special needs children throughout Iowa. Variety has a dedicated board and thousands of volunteers who raise funds to ensure this important goal is met. Variety partners with Mercy and many other organizations who are also dedicated to serving children.
“We are very pleased to partner with Mercy,” said Sheri McMichael, Executive Director for Variety – the Children’s Charity – Iowa.
“Our long and deep partnership has impacted many families, improving the lives of underprivileged, at-risk and special needs children that Mercy touches through its vast array of services.”
Unique to Variety is its clear understanding of the critical need for state-of-the-art medical equipment in the delivery of health care to Mercy’s smallest patients. Without visionary funders like Variety, pediatric health care delivery at Mercy would be substantially different. Nearly every component of Mercy Children’s Hospital and Clinics has benefitted from Variety funding by allowing us to purchase innovative equipment and supporting renovation projects to enhance the health care experience and healing environment for children and their families. Their support also extends to our mission initiatives, House of Mercy.
“We are extremely grateful for Variety’s support of Mercy,” said Mercy Foundation President Shannon Cofield.
“We are able to provide remarkable Mercy experiences to some of our most vulnerable patients each and every day, thanks to Variety’s generosity.”
