The 2018 Gilead Circle inductees – Norkaitis Family Charities and Prairie Meadows – have transformed Mercy and allowed our organization to greatly expand access and availability of needed health care services. The impact has been generous, touching thousands of families in our region. At Mercy Foundation’s 2018 Instruments of Mercy event in October, they received a Gilead medallion representing the Mercy tenets of care and healing, thereby honoring their transformational contributions of over $500,000 of lifetime giving and the Mission of our founding Sisters.
The Book of Jeremiah describes the imagery of the balm of Gilead as the famous aromatic resin which was deeply valued for its therapeutic properties. The flowering evergreen tree grew in the mountainous region east of Jordan.
Also at the event, we had the privilege to honor and celebrate transformational generosity at Mercy Medical Center – Des Moines. We recognized our visionary philanthropists of $100,000+ for their gifts, leadership and unwavering commitment to our Mission; they are truly instruments of the caring, healing ministry of the Sisters of Mercy.
