Angels of Mercy

Jacquie Oehlerking, BSW

“My husband has Alzheimer’s disease, and it was impossible for me to care for him. This has been the hardest time in my life, and I honestly did not know what I would have done without the help of Mercy Hospital and Jacquie. She found a facility for my husband and was so very kind to me. I will always be grateful.” ~A grateful wife

Teri Thomas, Cassie Freml, Heather Tuttle and Dana McQuiston- Cardiac Care Unit

“Our beloved husband and father was unexpectedly flown to Mercy. We were all so numb and had to make the hard decision to have him taken off life support. We truly believe God gave us these four awesome nurses to help him in his last hours of life, to allow him to die with dignity and to help us all through the toughest days of our lives! Besides working so hard at caring for their patient, they were very caring at keeping us informed and respectful of so many family members who loved him so dearly and wanted to be with him as much as possible.” ~A grateful family

Remmy-Mercy’s First Canine Angel

There is nothing like a friendly dog to wash the worries of the day away. Remmy, a six-year old German Shepherd and his “mom, Kathy Johnson, have been visiting Mercy patients for the past three years as part of Mercy’s therapy dog program. “Remmy loves to interact with people. He really bonded with an oncology patient and her husband. On Remmy’s birthday, I dressed him in a Blue’s Clue party hat and took him to her room for a surprise celebration. When Remmy walked into the room, you should have seen her smile. It was worth a million dollars!” ~Kathy Johnson
